Newbie Needs Help Taking Off - X2 Premium HD

Salut to everyone, i give honor to all that deserves it on this forum!

Intro: While i lived in Europe for about decade before moving to the US, I used to help my friends to set up Satellite and also offer advice on purchases. But since i came to the US i have lost a lot of those skills because I wanted to understand the land before i begin to experiment on the possibilities. Here i am now taking the next but crucial step to launch my independence, having divorced myself from all paid TVtainment monopolies since 4 months ago.

I recently bought my X2 Receiver which i immediately hooked to my existing DishNetwork Dish. I only receive CNN and the Dish Network Channel Mix unscrambled, although i got good signals on several other Sats. Believing that is as a result of using Dish Network's LNB, I decided to purchase my own single Linear LnB with 4 outputs which i am about to install. My question is,
1. Do i need to change the dish too, and should i maintain the same position as the previous Provider owned LNB?
2. was that why the channels are all scrambled in the first place?
3. What Sat are european channels on?
4. Where can i get reliable live US sports like Football and Basket Ball?
5. Where can I get International Soccer as the World Cup is just some months away?

I sincerely apologize if these questions have been answered in some previous posts, and i appreciatively look forward to your sage advice.

Thanks!
PS: I bypassed the Dish Networks DisEq Splitter peradventure it has been locked, can i use it with the new LNB

Welcome to Legitfta. Dish network is a provider which you require to have a sub for and we only discuss true fta here. The dish your using is probably too small for ku sats, I would recommend a dish of at least 36", bigger is better. There are several European channels that are scattered so a motor would be recommended. For American sports, unless you catch a wild feed, most of those can be seen on c band but you would need a dish of at least 6-8'.

Welcome to Legifta and hope you enjoy your visit. The dish you have, depending on your location should work for most transponders on Galaxy 19 at 97.0°W which should give you quite a variety. It's just a matter of tweaking your linear lnbf to match the dish. Once you find the sweet spot, you'll be surprised at what is available using such a small dish. Good luck and enjoy!
