Semi-old-timer upgrading system-how does this setup sound?

Hi all-

I started with a C-band-only 10-foot dish and analog receiver in 1995, then upgraded various pieces over the years (4DTV, Ku LNB/Corotor feedhorn, and a Satwork ST3688 receiver with 76cm dish and motor that I never got to work entirely right). Now that I have got back into satellite TV and picked up a new receiver (X2), I am thinking about upgrading the system some more. How does this setup sound:

-Replace Chapparal Corotor with dual-output C-only LNBF on the 10-foot dish (abandon Ku on it)
-Connect one output to the FTA receiver (through a DiSEqC switch), the other to the 4DTV receiver (set to C-band LNBF)
-Use a Vbox with the FTA receiver to control the 10-foot dish, instead of using the 4DTV
-The 4DTV receiver will be used for 105 only, or any time I want to look for NTSC feeds
-The FTA receiver will also be connected to my 76cm dish/SG2100 motor for Ku-band

Any comments or suggestions? Thanks!

That sounds like a good setup. I am currently moving my 10' dish with my remapped 4dtv. It is a little more tedious when switching birds because you have to switch inputs but I like the receiver. I have a new Vbox X I believe but haven't bothered setting it up.

Right now, for C reception on the X2, it is tedious as you said, plus I have polarity and skew to fiddle with that would go away with the LNBF if I understand things right. Thanks for your notes.

Ya I don't currently have a coax hooked up to my 4DTV. I have a DMX741 Cband/Ku LNBF on the 10 footer. It is a bit of a compromise but I get most Cband channels with it. When I do have the cable hooked up to the 4dtv I just leave it on a vertical channel so it is constantly putting out 13v so it won't interfere with my other receiver as much. I am not sure how much the skew would make a difference if it was still adjustable.

About the same story for me.... I substituted the Chaparral for an lnbf sacrificing "fine tuning" for scanning convenience. There hasn't been a real "must have" feed that I really miss. I would say that for the Atlantic sats it would make a difference. The Chaparral sits in the closet, but might get used in the future. Still use the 4dtv for moving the dish, even though I have a vbox still unopened in the closet.

I'm using an lnbf for all linear sats on my arc and a recently installed lnbf with dilectric plate for all Atlantic circular.
