I have a gen 4 in mine. It's a Crucial that isn't supplied anymore though.

Dumb ?? Is the spacer in place under the drive at the retaining screw?

I just tried a Patriot P320 PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 2280 SSD in my SF8008 and it didn't work. It works if I plug it in a USB port but not in the M.2 slot.

Here are test A & B done with the Patriot SSD. Results are different from the last test results but the drive is still showing as an unknown device.

After seeing the last test, I am fairly certain at this point that any drive you put in there will fail. If you have warranty, contact the seller. If you want to try to fix it as an electrical or electronics issue, then we can try that too. The last option would be to get an enclosure and run it off the usb 3 port.
