Bogus Multistream transponders have been a problem in the Edision 4K receivers. You do a blindscan and are greeted with anywhere from 100 to 400 transponders found - Almost all of them, bogus multi-stream transponders. For the most part, the United States and North America do not have multistream transponders with active radio or tv services, so T2MI and multistream in general are useless to us.

We currently have a selection of AVL6261 tuner drivers in the image, and almost all of them cannot be modified because there is no original source file. But there is a blindscan binary located in /usr/bin that can be modified. To address the bogus multistream transponder issues, the blindscan binary in /usr/bin has been set to reject more than 3 multistream transponders per frequency. I don't know how many multistream transponders are on a certain frequency that are usable, but seems 3 is a good number for now.

There is also the nagging problem in Edision receivers of the blindscan returning a partial list of transponders, and a reboot of the receiver fixing it. Some resets were also added to the Edision /usr/bin/blindscan binary to address this problem. It is unclear whteher the problem is fixed or not, but an attempt was made at it. So make a note and Do Not change the /usr/bin/blindscan binary unless some sort of a problem exists.

Hello ,
This problem with multistreams and the Edision MIO4K is unknown to me.
I have just done a blindscan with version 0302 and the number of transponders found is correct.
The number 3 for multistreams is not sufficient ( for example on satellite 9° east frequencies 12466 V the number is 4 )
PS :this frequency with 4 streams is not found in Blindscan ( TNAP6 and also TNAP5.1)

on the 9° East satellite with multistreams, the result is worse: 28 transponders for version 1203 and 36 for version 0203
on Astra the result is similar, and still just as long (with TNAP 5.1 the number of transponders is around 98).

sorry, but I think this version is a step back rather than a step forward (I'm talking about the blindscan, the rest I don't know)

if there's nothing else to try, I think I'll go back to the previous version.

Our TNAP feeds server has become slow over time and an investigation showed a lot of unwanted activity on it. Some security measures have been installed with probably more to come. Ip's that are doing things besides what the server is designed are being banned. All the server does is store downloads of images and feed files. WHY a site like that becomes a target is beyond me. Anyway, if for some reason, you find yourself banned, let me know. Here is a snippet of what happens or was happening in a 4-6 hour period:

I've already noticed that sometimes the loading time on (tnapimages.com) can be very short, 2/3 minutes, and sometimes very long, more than half an hour; it might be the same problem.
Let's hope this can be fixed.

Let me see what we need to do. Personally, I do not like a login just to download an image. The issue is still being worked on.
 
Logins should be removed from tnapimages.com. Images should be downloaded without logins. Please let me know if logins are still active.

The TNAP server seems to be performing as it should and security seems to be working. Now we will see what can be done with the images...

the 1903 version is much better
On the 9° East satellite with MIS, it finds 4 multistreams on the frequency and it also finds all the transponders.
On astra
depending on the module used, the result is different.
with No T2MI it quickly finds all transponders ( 90 in 123 seconds )
with T2MI 700 Europe it finds about 15 transponders less ( 76 in 312 seconds)
for comparison
the TNAP5.1 version with both modules finds the same number of transponders ( 90 )
T2MI 700 Europe ( 91 in 187 seconds )
no T2MI ( 92 in 128 seconds )

the only slight weakness of the TNAP6 version is the result with the T2MI Europe module
but the progress is remarkable

What about channels or services Found?
Is the download server any better or worse?
Does BackupSuite work any better or worse?
 
For the backupsuite it's not regular, this time the duration was estimated at 9 minutes and in reality it lasted 19 minutes which is relatively long.
The image download server (either online or tnapimage.com) was fast and trouble-free.
As for the channels found, I didn't notice anything strange.
These are just the first tests.
 
So it looks like maybe the feed server is improved along with a somewhat improved Edision MIO4k blindscan.
But BackupSuite has problems....
 
BackupSuite on the 0319 image on the Mio4k+ for me seems same as usual.
Said it would take about 8+ minutes for HDD and it took 5.16 minutes and then I did a usb stick backup that said it would take about 5.07 minutes and it took 7.59 minutes.
 
We could use a good decent speed test plugin if anybody has one.

For the Edision MIO 4K receivers, and to a degree, Octagon SF8008:

1. The Edision 4K receivers have always needed to be rebooted after a few blindscans because they start finding less transponders. The TNAP image will have provisions to clear some memory before each blindscan. (This may or may not help SF8008.)

2. Multistream transponders can make one big mess in the Edision 4K receivers when used on North American satellites. It is common to find 100-200 empty-data multistream transponders on some ku band satellites. Trying to sort or delete the useless multistream transponders and scan what actually has channels can be frustrating. TNAP blindscan will have an option now to disable or enable multistream transponders when scanning. This makes for a better experience when blindscanning.

3A. For scanning (all types), logical scan numbers or LCN has been added and some more attempts at finding and naming channels correctly have been made. These improvements are something that may or may not be seen, depending on the satellites being scanned. PAT timeout has been increased from 4 to 8 seconds in an attempt to help identify channels on transponders with weak signals and/or small symbol rates. It is unclear how effective this change will be.

3B. In channel search, SDT is set to True as a default, and SDT is set to False as a fall-through . This gives 2 attempts at finding something useful on a transponder, but it is unclear how much it will help (if any).

I find what appears to be improvements in channels found and channel names when the above mentioned changes are added. Overall scan speed has not changed much on my system, and of course we would like it to be faster, but at the same time, we want to find every available channel or service.

The changes mentioned here will be in the next image build.
