TNAP-6 Image Discussion

@ LME,

The weather plugin that is included in the Glamour skin has many issues. Why may I ask do we need astronomical calculations? But there was (past tense) about 700 lines of code dedicated to it.
The astronomical calculations in this plugin are extremely CPU-intensive and are being performed every 3 seconds by default.
In your htop screenshot(s), you had multiple enigma2 processes running with high CPU usage - which lines up perfectly with what would happen if this plugin is causing issues.
The astronomical calculations for calculating the positions of all planets (Mercury through Neptune), plus the Moon and Sun, involve hundreds of trigonometric functions for each refresh cycle. These are computationally expensive operations.
The plugin has no caching mechanism, so it recalculates everything from scratch on every refresh, even though astronomical positions don't change significantly in a 3-second window.
The high number of enigma2 processes suggests that the system might be spawning new processes as old ones get bogged down by the calculations.

This Partly matches the pattern of the high CPU usage you're seeing. And no, I am not making this crap up either. The MSN weather plugin in Glamour skin has all that crap in it. We have removed most of it now for our uses.

Then the satfinder plugin itself still has issues such as:
Deadlocks in Transport Stream Reading
Resource Cleanup Problems
Thread Management Issues

If you look at all of that stuff listed above, you wonder how the damn thing even ran!

Anyway, an improved version is being worked on. Let's see if it fixes your Glamour skin problem. Just use some basic skin for a bit until I can get an update built. Astronomical calculations for calculating the positions of all planets....LOL

A SF8008 blindscan returning over 2000 services in less than 4 minutes is not bad. Edision receivers are similar, depending on driver being used.

I didn't change anything in plugins menu. whatever comes with the image is there.
The only thing i loaded was my sat list. I also did some adjustments for display to 1080p/60hz, & canceled the display of positioner.

You should be able to do or add anything you want to it....

A successful online update will be seen in receiver information as shown below:

Did the online update, & all my personal issues are gone. Maybe, later I (or other users), will stumble over other issues.
That's always a work in progress !
thank you.

128MB, using "backup suit" plugin !

Yes I used BackupSuite and a usb stick like you did so not sure why it is taking so long for your full backup. I have added more plugins and another skin so that is why my full backup is 134MB over your 128MB.

Online Reflash, and did some backup tests in different stages:
1. fresh install/wifi settings/updates:
estimated time =7.13'
finished=5.29'
2.Loaded sat+channels list:
estimated=4.49' (???)
finished=5.25' (???)
3.display settings & sat settings:
estimated=4.47' (???)
finished=5.23' (???)
4.loaded picons list:
estimated=4.54' (???)
finished=6.39'

There are some inconsistency in the finished times: the more items are loaded, finish time for backup is decreasing !!

Also noticed a new feature: netspeedtest; try it but got this message:
netspeedtest.webp

not a big issue, but it should be mentioned.

For me, the backup takes 9.39 minutes.
The fact that it takes so long at LME may be due to the USB key?

After all settings & files loaded, as they were in previous 5.1 version, final backup was finished in 6.41' !
This looks normal for a 129MB backup file.
I remembered that last year, I had a sluggishness issue with an openvix image. Found out that 1 picon was causing this; it was a picon downloaded in .svg format and was converted to a .png format. As soon as I got rid of it, no more issue.
So, I deleted from the list, a recent converted picon, and so far my osmio+ is working normal.
I'm in the process to reflash my friend's mini box, & see how is going.
Just to clear my mind, are all 3 osmio models using same hardware with different features like: wifi, front display, # of tuners ?

Yes.

Well I flushed my friend's mini, but the only available tnap6 version is 302 !!

it is sluggish after exiting signal finder/ch list menu, and backup is long time:

Do an Online update using receiver menus. That is the same thing you did. Go back a few posts if you need a review. I marked in red what should be shown on the receiver's About or information page.

I've just updated TNAP6 0302 on the Uclan Ustym 4K pro ( old tuner - Si2166D ) the estimated duration of the Backup before the update is surprising ( estimated 49 minutes , done 10 minutes , it's better that way ).
Of course, some plug-ins are not present (S12166D), but even with TNAP6 the blindscan is fast and complete (unlike MIO4K).

Check the way you set things up. You will need to add a https certificate or the web browser will probably complain logging in. Other than that, https in open web interface works for me.

Unable to use HTTPS on WebIF. The setup doesn't keep/store the selection.

Probably need to set a password if you haven't already. Should find a plugin for that in the list of plugins (change root password).
I haven't ever used Https for webif but I set it up and it is working for me also.
