TNAP-7 Image Discussion

The audio sync issue is only on the local channels using the hauppauge 950q. Satellite channels are fine.
I checked the 955q again and still no signals. It does show up in the tuners menu.

First, EPG import ONLY works when the transponder frequency and symbol rate matches what the epg file was made with. This is why people in Europe load a channel list. The epg would not work for a lot of channels if they simply blindscanned.

Wrong signal display? What exactly is wrong? I see two screenshots but have no clue what you are claiming is wrong. Thanks.
I circled the SNR (signal strengh) values posted by Zero, compared to the values posted by osmio4k+.
It seems to me that the tuner on zero is set to show 16.4dB when in reality the snr is over 10db, & a value bellow 16.4db when the snr in reality is less then 10db.

Fresh flashed "TNAP-7-vuzero4k-20261016_usb", and I encaunter more problems during the initial setup, then the previous version:
1-internet connection is acknowledged, but not recognised !!!
2-video setup is missing during the initial setup, & not available after the reboot !

Flashed "TNAP-7-vuzero4k-20261017_usb", and I (think !) found the fix for missing video menu:
in /usr/share/enigma2 folder is a file "setup.xml", where the first line gives a "hint" on how to make video menu to "reapear" in settings:

Thanks. I appreciate that!
Understand TNAP 7 is a custom build. When a new receiver is introduced parts or pieces may be missing no matter how careful you are adding it. Maybe soon the vuzero4k can be looked at again and add what is missing. We will see....

I'm well aware this image is a work in progress & maybe more challenging then other stb, as the manufacturer didn't & still doesn't care to fix the software flaws, and/or provide any hints.
Hopefully you'll be able to correct/improve the performance.
Thx !

Excellent!
I will see about getting you something to test with!

One thing I almost did but did not do was drop the transponders that cannot render something useful from the scan. The reason is simple: Users think more transponders scanned means more sensitivity or better performance while less transponders means less sensitivity or less performance.

The Edision 4K receivers will scan usually somewhere between 12 and 14 transponders on 101w ku as compared to 20 or more transponders for the Octagon SF8008. Looke closely at the scan report shown below. 12 out of the 22 transponders were unlocked. That means scan time was wasted on 12 transponders that were not going to supply anything useful. Edision scans less than Octagon. Both return about the same amount of channels or services...

Don't know if the latest 8008 image has the goodies in it for low symbol rate scans but I did finally tune up my KU dish and can test something for you if need be. It's only a 90cm dish, however, so I may not see what you can with your 1.2m.

If you update the SF8008, you should find the 2155D version now has the 0 option for low symbol rates but apparently it cannot be made to work. It will not hurt to try and see what if anything you get below a 1000 symbol rate when the low step is set to 0. Once the low symbol rate is set to 0, another value appears to allow for the start of the low symbol rate search. This value should be between 100 and 350.

The frequencies have been organized in blindscan for the SF8008 2166D models. There were transponders being skipped on 101w and some other satellite positions due to wrong frequencies being assigned to transponders, usually with a 30,000 or sometimes less symbol rate.

It is unknown to me if the radio channels play properly on the SF8008 Si2166D models. I have no way to check the sound on this model.

Improvements can be made to the Ustym4kPro model which is a popular TNAP receiver. But no one that owns it bothers to report or comment about it in this thread. Server logs show a lot of Ustym4K Pro activity.

It is a challenge to get someone that knows how or has the patience to debug receiver receiver issues. Usually at best someone will push the like button on a comment or post and that is the end of it. When problems or issues are mentioned or reported, lots of times they are cryptic or vague descriptions. Fixing something can take two steps on most occasions with the first step figuring out what the problem is and the second step is looking for a solution for the problem or issue.

Some of these blindscan, usb tuner, and audio fixes will be outright boring if you participate in the debug because data has to be collected so the problem can be understood enough to fix it. People will complain about something not working then suddenly decide that it is not really that important to get it fixed and withdraw from the project once they see information needs to be collected. This wastes both time and resources, but happens a lot. They want it fixed, but do not want to be troubled themselves with the repair steps.

These FTA receivers will only work as good as the efforts that are put into them. A special THANKS goes to all who participate!
