TNAP-6 Image Discussion

I installed enigma2-plugin-skins-xDreamy_6.0.0_all.ipk but it didn't populate. Then tried installing enigma2-plugin-skins-xDreamy_6.1.0_all .ipk and got this error.

My apologies.
Download: enigma2-plugin-skins-xDreamy_6.1.0_all.ipk Again. Delete the previous version in /tmp and install this one.

To be clear, a skin does generate or populate epg. A skin can improve the way epg is presented or shown and xDreamy does that very well. To populate epg, you have to have a source for it. For example, some terrestrial stations in the U.S. provide epg in their stream. But there is no epg in the skin itself.

So, in other words do I have to turn on some of the EPG sources in EPG menu ?
I was on MEtv, Movies chanels & other fta us stations, but no joy.
I loaded xdreamy in openbhn slot, and same result.
My feeling is that xdreamy does not populate epg on edision stb, just on sf8008.

The skin does not make or provide epg. The skin does show epg possibly in different ways. xDreamy for example shows posters for the programs. Most skins do not do that. Consider these two:
epg1_20250901132643.webp<--------------------->epg-2_20250901133600.webp

For FTA channels such as c band, the epg information generally has to be fetched from a source, then added into the receiver in a way that the receiver can recognized and display it. Not exactly the easiest thing to do. EPG for FTA channels takes a bit of work. I do like the epg posters that are displayed in xDreamy, but most of the time, I prefer just a simple skin. A complex skin such as xDreamy takes more resources to run as compared to a simple type skin that just shows the basics.

Well, I found out that xdreamy srew up my asc1 (witch is 80% reliable!), so i had to go back to the original tnap image & rescan all my sat in the list. Same thing happened to my friend's mini.
I read on another forum that one user of xdreamy, asked inspiron about a file he found on a subfolder:
"in the usr\lib\enigma2\python\Plugins\Extensions\xDreamy there is a folder ".qodo" with some file "history.sqlite"
Do we need this or you forgot to del it?!
"
inspiron admitted that he forgot to remove it:
"Just forget it, sorry...."
Who knows what else he forgot inside the image.

No Promises Being Made!
It looks like a limited amount of epg will be available in TNAP images soon. FTA EPG in North America has always been problematic and for the most part, simply does not exist. Then when we did get EPG, it populated to other channels causing a mess. Terrestrial ATSC, 117w ku, and 67w ku ALL populate epg. Unfortunately, there is little we can view on these channels due to either encryption (67w), or unable to understand the content(117w). ATSC epg does work for the stations that have it in the stream.

So the first step for North American epg is straightening the mess in getting the epg to stay on the channels it belongs to. That is solved here: EPG Contamination Fix

The second step for North American epg is finding an opensource for the epg which begins here: GitHub - jef/zap2xml: 📺 Automate TV guides to XMLTV

The third step for North American epg is building and modifying a grabber for the epg, And this is where having a bona-fide-paid-for AI assistant or two comes in handy, but not 100 percent necessary either for a determined individual that can read.

The fourth step for North American epg is assigning the grabbed epg to their proper channels. It is great to have epg and it looks impressive in a screenshot, but it is useless if it does not apply to the channel programs.

The filth step for North American epg is automation. Again, this is where having a bona-fide-paid-for AI assistant or two comes in handy, but not 100 percent necessary either for a determined individual that can read.

The Weigel channels should have epg in TNAP images at some point, and probably a few ku channels scattered about. After that, put up directions on how to add epg channels, which I doubt few if any do. This TNAP image thingy is pretty much a one-way street. A few people help put it together, then it is downloaded and distributed to various places where it is Bitched and Griped about....All the way to Egypt at one point. If people would simply come here and talk about their issues, they may or may not be resolved. But downloading a copy and running to your little corner of the Internet and bitching about it shore aint gonna help!

Now that I have explained things, here is what a future TNAP image should produce at minimum in FTA epg:
