Good!

We have a lot of control over this image, and can add or take away as needed. Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments about making it better.
As an example, ATSC drivers will be pre-installed on the next version.

I installed this image on Wednesday and started playing with it today.. The menus are pretty similar to TNAP-1 with some different branches. I have only scanned 58 W. Everything looks good so far. I will know more after I get WebIF connected. Thank you VERY MUCH El Bandidio!

My only problem was that I could not get OpenWebIF to connect. After several hours of on and off switching back to TNAP-1, I found the problem. TNAP-1 connects to the 5G signal. TNAP-3 only works with the 2.4 GHZ signal. I will scan more sats today and report any issues.

I am surprised the 5G does not work in later versions, but does work in earlier versions.
We can change to an earlier version of wireless lan if needed to fix this.
Post #1 of this thread is updated to show the 5G problem.

Thanks

Tested my 5g router and it did connect and OpenWebIF worked and was able to stream with Tnap-3.

OK
We need to find out why one 5G connects and the other does not?
Are both of these 5G routers open or password protected?

TNAP-3 does not detect my Win 955Q at all. I've connected my antenna directly to the TV until I find a fix.

The Hauppauge ATSC drivers are not pre-installed in the first mio4k test version. They will be pre-installed in the next version.
To install Haupauge 955 driver:
Verify the receiver has an internet connection
Goto the Plugins menu and press the green remote button. A download list will populate.
Select drivers from the populated list.
Highlight the driver you want to install and press the OK button on the remote.

My Mio4k is connected to 5G with a password and the Haupauge 850 is working fine with drivers installed. EB was nice enough to send me the image with drivers installed.

I have tried several times. I am able to connect at 2.4 fine, but not 5G on TNAP-3. I checked TNAP-1 and it still connects at 5G. All of my networks are password protected.

No new plugins found. I was not connected to the Internet after my 5G attempts failed. I reconnected at 2.4G and can now download the drivers for my 955Q.

Thanks!

You will get the no new plugins message if there is no internet connection. You will need to refresh the plugins list once internet is restored, or you will get this message again.
16500

If you are certain you have an internet connection, then run software update. Running a software update should refresh the downloadable plugins list, providing the receiver is connected to the internet.
16501

This is what the downloadable plugins list should look like if the internet connection is working, and if the plugin list has been refreshed.

The check internet connection step in setup shown above is broken. I have spent a lot of time in this area in past versions, and it will probably be best for now to skip this step entirely in setup.
This is what would happen if this setup step is deleted:
If a working Ethernet cable is connected to the receiver, then internet will automatically be available for the receiver.
If a wireless internet connection is to be used, then it would need to be setup AFTER the initial setup is completed.

I have connection problems that are "partially" working. I'm going to start from scratch and do a clean install on Saturday. I'll keep reading here all week.

Thanks for the update!
We need to figure out what is going on as the wireless connection should not work for some, but work for others. I also plan to have an updated image version available in the next few days. The updated image version should have ATSC drivers loaded bt default, plus a few other things.

You are welcome. I noticed last night that even though I could use OpenWebIF at 2.4Ghz only that when I did a network test, the IP test fails while I am connected. (??) Time to start over. My entire system is Ubuntu Linux and wireless only.

I guess you understand telnet, and you can see the system files for the receiver on your computer when it is connected and working correctly?

Yes I can. I have been seeing conflicting readings that tell me that I should not be connected while I am connected. I am glad that I have TNAP-1 working fine. I look forward to trying your new image too :)

Try changing the wireless files. Put the old TNAP into the new TNAP and see if that fixes the problem.
Here is how to do that:
The WirelessLan folder is located at: /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins in the receiver's files.
Boot into the old TNAP and swap them. If you boot into the new TNAP, you may not have an internet connection between the computer and receiver.
To complete the swap, the new TNAP system needs to be mounted.
Telnet to the receiver, then mount the slot the new TNAP is in. Use One of these commands to do that, depending on the slot number.
mkdir /media/slot4 && mount /dev/mmcblk1p9 /media/slot4
mkdir /media/slot3 && mount /dev/mmcblk1p7 /media/slot3
mkdir /media/slot2 && mount /dev/mmcblk1p5 /media/slot2
mkdir /media/slot1 && mount /dev/mmcblk1p3 /media/slot1

The new TNAP system files will be mounted in /media/slot[1-4] of the receiver's files
Now you may transfer the old WirelessLan folder to the new TNAP.

You may also want to swap the wlan.ko from the old TNAP to the new one. This file is located at: /lib/modules/5.5.0/extra. Your folder may be 5.4.1 as 5.5.0 is the new kernel, which I do not think you have. So swap one folder and one .ko file. Then boot into the new TNAP and see if the wireless works correctly.

There are many settings files that are in our feeds. They should be removed because we cannot see the satellites these setting files were made for. I plan to remove these as part of a clean-up.
16504

A settings file will most likely contain Favourites, a main channel file, and also a few or a lot of channel bouquets.
I have custom made a settings file, and have it installed in the receiver as shown below.
16505

Settings files in North America could benefit the users in the same way as it does in Europe. I have seen some great channel editing that others have done, and these channel edits could be shared by making settings files.

The picon files that we have in the feeds should also be eliminated in a clean-up because they are not really useful in North America.

I can add picon files and setting files to the feeds if someone wants to make them.

Setting Files, Picon Files, and Plugins with an .ipk extension can be added or taken away from the TNAP feeds.

Skins can improve the look of the receiver menus, and at the same time, add other options such as weather forecasts.
Some skins are "lite", meaning the files needed to load it are not large, and or it does not take a lot of resources to operate.
Some skins load everything they need to operate at the time of install, while other skins expect you to install additional files or plugins in order to get all available features.

The skin named PD1LOI will display the weather, and also install the weather plugin that it uses.
16506

Other skins will need the MSN weather plugin. So you can end up with multiple weather plugins installed in the receiver.
Some skins will install files that will clash with other skins when they are installed.

For the above reasons, not many skins will be installed by default in enigma2 images. We will try to select a nice, useful skin for TNAP default, and supply other nice skins in the feed, which the user will have to download and install.

We will add 2 channel types to the TNAP code, which will allow the ZNS channels on 87w and some of the c band channels on 101w to scan in normally instead of scanning in as "Unknown Types".

A plugin will be available in TNAP that will allow automatic switching between two ATSC tuners. This means you can run two separate antennas, and have the receiver automatically switch between them. I thought about changing the names of Terrestrial and cable to ATSC-1 and ATSC-2 as shown below. I do not see any real benefit in doing this right now, so I will leave the names alone, keeping Terrestrial and Cable names. These names can be changed later if needed.

if unsigned_orbpos == 0xFFFF: #Cable
service_name = _("ATSC-2 or Cable")
addCableAndTerrestrialLater.append(("%s" % (service_name), service.toString()))
elif unsigned_orbpos == 0xEEEE: #Terrestrial
service_name = _("ATSC-1")

If anyone is interested I can upload the picons that I use on my Duo2 receiver. The picons look very nice with the PD1LOI skin and they really don't take up much space nor do they slow up zapping.

In regards to two atsc tuners, I might add that they come in handy when recording two separate programs during
the same time slot.

Here is my todo list to make a finished image:
* Videomode should be frozen at 60Hz.
* The rest of the unused menus should be deleted.
* systemtime plugin should be set to default ntp instead of transponder.
* Install proper radio and bootlogos

NOW is the time to make any suggestions for changes.
I have not decided on a default skin. If there are not any suggestions, I will pick one.
I do not plan to add anymore default plugins unless there is a need for some. Plugins should really be chosen by the user instead of loading a ton of them at default.

I will consider adding proper settings file(s) to the feeds server. Mine is already in the feeds, and I enjoy using it.

My personal time is not indefinite, and I want to end these test images soon.

Thanks for all the hard work and time you've put into this. As stated by many other people, the osmio4K is the best receiver I've ever owned. I haven't had any problems so far with any of the test images. The test-C image is loaded now and I really like it. I haven't been able to do all the testing I'd like because my wife sometimes wants to actually watch a TV program instead of watching me "Play" with the receiver.

Again, Thanks!

I appreciate the comments!

I have pretty much quit working on the main image, and now working on accessories such as bootlogos, radiologos, plugins,skins...etc.

Parsing enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-slowzap_1.2_all.ipk
Parsing enigma2-skin-greenhexagonfhd_sharp987_openpli7.0-r1.02_all.ipk

Skins can be tricky to install. For example, if one skin installs something like a weather plugin or file, then the next skin that is installed and has the same file will fail. The enigma2 system is set by default to not delete and overwrite files.
Anyway, you should be able to see what is listed above, but you may have to do an online software update to refresh your feeds list. The skin listed in red is something else, and is over 50 MB in size.

TNAP 3D

With the pingu skin installed with weather plugin. Very nice skin.

I will probably remove the simple configuration in antenna setup. The simple selection is designed for fixed dishes, and has little benefit if any for North America.

LOL. No worries.
I am going to work a bit on the plus model. Let me know if you have any more connection issues.

A successful test on a transponder with an sr of 1000
difficult to receive in the U.S. ... because at position 68 ° 5 east

the blindscan also finds the frequencies very close

I would have to review the size of the letters for this skin

Elliott is providing the TNAP images without reference to the base image. These images are available to use for future TNAP versions no matter what distribution it is based on.

Thank you for everything that you are doing El Bandido. you have an incredible skill set and the images and assistance are very much appreciated by the NA hobbyist community!

Do you mean bootlogos? I am surprised there is time for this due to skin upgrades.

Yes, indeed my time is very limited right now!
However I did a little refurbish for the bootlogos, I wish I had time for drastically new graphics, but at least it's something!

Of course you don't have to use them, perhaps El Bandido doesn't even want my contribution this time around, and I'm fine with that!
The zip file has the mvi files.

I've been playing around with the TNAP 3 test mio+ image. I like the new look and the SDRRadio plugin is much improved from any previous versions I've seen.... I only wish I new what I was doing with it? I get audio on FM but still haven't figured out how to get the other modulations to play? Anyway it's improved for me, too bad you can't improve me?
If you are looking for suggestions? I like an iptv plugin called freearhey. It has multiple countries and probably the best United States iptv collection I've come across. Also an iptv plugin called GreekStreamTV, it's not too shabby itself.....
Thanks for all your work!
You are much appreciated!

Videomode:
Videomode in previous versions of TNAP was locked to 60Hz. While I do not find much trouble locking the MIO4K to 60Hz, I do find several issues trying to lock the MIO4K+ to 60Hz. The picture may "jerk" or "stutter" on some channels when the MIO4K+ is locked to 60Hz,
Further, locking the videomode to 60Hz puts us out "on a fence" so to speak, where we are locked to one specific version of the videomode, and cannot accept updates that will improve performance in the video area.
I also find that I can move a MIO receiver with a set-up and working image from a 1080 television to a 720p television, and still get video on start-up. However, the framebuffer seems to get confused when I do this, and I only have a small amount of time to enter the correct 720 video setting (from 1080 to 720) before the receiver's remote becomes UN-responsive or locks up.
Because the MIO line of receivers can resolve a picture from a 50 Hz source, then convert it after a few seconds to 720p, 60 Hz television at first boot after loading a new firmware, and because of the issues mentioned above, I will leave the videomode intact, and expect the user in North America to be smart enough to select the proper 60Hz option instead of 50Hz or multi in video settings.

Factory Default
Earlier versions of TNAP were based on a completed SatDreamGr build, and if a non-altered factory default was done, then the TNAP image no longer worked, or became unrecognizable. To fix this issue, another default enigma2 folder was installed in the receiver's files, and the menu.xml file told the receiver to erase the current enigma2 folder that would have user information in it, and load the default enigma2 folder.
While the work-around of changing the enigma2 folders for a factory default worked to a degree that we wanted in previous versions of TNAP, it really serves no purpose now since we control the image build, and the feeds for the image.
For reasons mentioned above, Factory default will be returned to the default settings that the normal image build provides.

Problems in Initial Setup
In unaltered versions of an OpenPLi image, initial setup, or the setup sequence you see when the image is first installed, you will be asked if you want to setup the internet connection and install plugins from feeds. There seems to be a bug in OpenPLi images that will not show when a network internet connection is working when using an Ethernet cable that is connected to the receiver.
For this reason, the internet connection check, and option to setup wireless internet or wireless network in initial setup has been skipped. If/when this bug is fixed, then the option of setting up the internet connection during first start-up or initial setup will Not be skipped. It is better to do this than have users wonder why the receiver says the internet connection does not work when it actually does.
The failure to show an internet connection may also exist sometimes when first setting up the internet or when changing the internet. For this reason, REBOOT the receiver after setting up or changing the internet or wireless connections.

Online Updates
Since we can control the image build and feeds, we can control the online image updates.
The majority of updates do little if anything to help the user in North America. For this reason, online updates will only be provided for an "as needed" basis, when major changes have taken place, or when something becomes available that we can really use and need. (Sometimes it is better to load a newer version of an image than try and update it.)

TNAP Design
TNAP is an abbreviation for The North American Project.
There are many images available for Europe, and other parts of the world, but TNAP is probably the first image in recent times that is customized for use in North America. Most of the items that are not used in North America have been deleted from the menus, and some items have been removed or altered in the OpenPLi build recipes.
For these reasons, users in other parts of the world besides North America may find useful features missing. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be done about that.

TNAP-3 Is Based on OpenPLi
While it is True that some image recipes have been altered or deleted. And some image files or file structure has been altered or deleted, We still depend on OpenPLi for recipes, and other items to build the image. So it needs to be known at all times that TNAP-3 is not a 100% custom build, and that we will respect and not use trademarks of OpenPLi without permission.

Excellent!
I find this plugin to be packaged correctly and to work. It is now in our feeds

You will need to either run software update using the receiver's menus, Or type opkg update in telnet before this new addition will be seen in your receiver.

I will add any good, working plugin to the feeds. So find what you can use and post it!

Another question, do you think we should add any reference to based on OpenPLI on the bootlogo? In my opinion, I don't think it's necessary anymore, as these homebuilds are not a modified image like SDG was!

We want to show respect and credit everyone's work when possible. And also do not want to give the impression that we made all of this.
So with that in mind, I acknowledge OpenPli on the about page.
16576

I think that will be good enough. If not, then we will change something else.
Now to test the bootlogos. Thanks very much for them!!!

In this case mentioning that the work is based on OpenPLI on the bootlogos as well is not necessary! The about screen is more than enough.

hi,

with OATV on Eutelsat 5°west there is reception on 12669H (MIS1/MIS2). not found by blindscan, but works with satfind plugin and manual scan.
(edision-dvb-modules-osmio4k - 5.5.0+20200217-r0)

unfortunately with TNAP3 no reception on these frequency? not found by blindscan, also no signal at satfind plugin.
(edision-dvb-modules-osmio4k - 5.5.0+20200217-r0)

on first sight, there is used same driver package (17-02-2020). presumably both image also used same kernel-module-avl6261-5.5.0 - 5.5.0+20200217-r0 and kernel-module-brcmstb-osmio4k-5.5.0 - 5.5.0+20200217-r0

so what i don't comprehend, one image works good (on this one frequency), other not?

I will guess it is because our driver is a bit different (No-T2MI). That is my only explanation.

This problem is not new and existed until February 14, 2020 on all images with T2MI for the MIO4K
It was on this date with the 8th test sent by the developers that it was finally resolved for the versions with T2MI.
can this modification be made to the version without T2MI without having any side effects, no idea.
The version without T2MI is in many other areas clearly better than that with T2MI (68 ° Ost program 11078 H with SR 1000 for example)
This problem is already cut in half, because there were two frequencies that were not found, and one disappeared a week ago.
Do not forget also that this version is primarily made for the American market.

Unfortunately, in this case it took a long time for my previous post to be published

so, my feedback belongs to the previous test image after testing. it should not give the impression that i am dissatisfied

i only noticed it, while comparing it to the other images with newest drivers/kernel (SatdreamGR, OpenPLi, OATV)

it is a pity that there seems to be a dependency between multistream and t2mi in the new driver and kernel, although they are very different things.
i can do without t2mi support very well, but multistream would be important

however the new driver with kernel 5.5 including t2mi support has a problem with very low symbol rates (SR1000 does not work, as written by Stephan)

New members may have their posts moderated, depending on content, and after a few more posts, that will no longer apply to you. This is the reason it took a long time for your post to be published as a moderator had to approve it. Again, after a few more posts, this will not apply to you.
